A copied registration abstract records Richard's birth on 19 February 1848 at 13 Arlington Street, son of surgeon William Henry Bartleman Hawes and Sophia Maria Davison Hawes, formerly Day. Registration is dated 24 March 1848.
Death
The family compilation gives his death as 6 October 1849 at 13 Arlington Street, with inflammation of the bowels lasting four days as the cause. His father was present and served as the informant.
Discrepancy in the recorded age
The copied death entry gives Richard's age as 17 months, whereas the stated birth and death dates give about 19 months. Both readings are preserved until a certified register entry can resolve the discrepancy.
